During the winter I crave citrus! I can never have enough Honeybells or Moro blood oranges. Made blood orange sorbetto I thought I would share with my friends here!
Yum yum yum!
Where do you get your blood oranges? Did you grow them? The sorbetto looks taste!
Okay, I have like a zillion Moro oranges I need to pick today. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE this recipe. I might also see if I can do Moro Blood Orange gelato - gotta find me a recipe for that, too. Love both sorbet and gelato I think even better than ice cream. Both are more refreshing!

That figures. I have a bunch of his recipes, including some jam/marmalade recipes, thank you!! I have an ice cream maker that I haven’t broken out since last summer! Perfect yum!!
Xxxooo I know you’ll love it!
Supermarket!
I haven’t seen them in our markets. I would like to try some.
I buy mine at Stop nShop, but Shaws carries them as well. They are packed in a net bag, usualy 8-12 to the bag. The bag is labeled Moro oranges from Calif. This is the best I can do for info!
We might have stop and shop. I may have seen that sign. I’ll google and see what I find, thanks. I bought seeds but they are so hard to grow from seed that are dry. Plus they don’t grow true, or might not even be a blood orange. My seeds always get moldy!
We don’t have those stores in our area, but I did find a store Whole Foods near me. They have blood oranges but I don’t know what variety they will be. I will have to stop by there. They are only about 15 miles away.
Likely stores in my area that might carry blood oranges would be Trader Joe’s, Whole Fools (as Johnny mentioned), Sprouts, Frazier Farms, and our local farmer’s markets. Any of the smaller, organic food-type market may have them right now.
We have them here I should check with them too. I forgot about them. I’m getting hungry for some blood oranges.
You will also love ‘Whole Foods’. It is a great store!
I’ve never been in one. I should have gone today but I spent the day clearing vines and brush with my heavy 20" chainsaw. Waving it around at the ground and above my head got me a bit sore. Now I have more room for better trees and bushes.
Well that is good! Tomorrow is another day! I checked my supermarket today and we still have them so they are still around. But not for long!!!
I’ll go tomorrow night then. Thanks for the warning.
I also have a ‘Moro’ blood orange tree growing in my dining room. This is its third year. The first two years it dropped all of its blossoms. It will have blood oranges this year!
I bought ten oranges. They were just over $1.00 a piece. I’m going to try one in a while. I just ate. Did you have to pay like $50 for the Moro or did you find a better price? I was looking and the best I could find was $34 with $20 shipping. I’m not sure I want to pay that much for it. I’ll try and grow the seeds from my fresh oranges I just bought. I wonder if it’s patented? Maybe I could graft my seedlings. I’ll have to look into that.
