Blueberry suckers?

The property I just bought has blueberries which I think might be 10 years old? I’m trying to get new growth to replace the older wood (if need be) and I don’t know what a sucker is or if a sucker should be cut out or not? Most are yellow with nice foliage and some even have a nice number of blueberries growing on them? Should I let them grow?

After the bush gets several suckers (6 or more) I like to remove one or two each year of the oldest ones. This can be done while dormant but I prefer doing the thinning right after I pick the berries.

So these yellow cane which are suckers can grow and produce blueberries and replace the older wood?

Yes. The older canes slow down in production. If you wait until the berries are picked you don’t reduce this years crop.
