Borax for weeds on driveway

I read that 1/2 cup borax to 1 gallon of water will kill all weeds. I am wondering if I use that on the roadway through my orchard how close I dare go to the apple trees, etc… I don’t want to risk killing them, too. Has anyone tried this?

Well ,caution is in order here.
How close are your trees to the road ?
Of most important is how much land does that Gallon cover ?
The rate .
It is possible to put too much on and kill about any plant ,Apple.?
That said
I spread about 4lb of borax per acre , as fertilizer on my apples and garden every 3 years or so.
The soil here is deficient in boron, many plants, apples , cabbage family, beets, etc. can benefit from " a little "boron.
Too much could be really bad.
Think of it as something that is needed but only in very small amounts. I usually mix with lime to evenly cover the area.
So…?
Your road weed spray may benefit the apple trees.?
I have never tried that.
Be careful.

I have heard of this and you are definitely salting the earth in a way but definitely would not do this until spring and would think this would be more effective in a desert climate rather than a wet one where it would leach. I like full strength vinegar in the heat (80s+) or a glycerin soap and vegetable oil type application but i would also think that would be best applied in spring however I’m not sure of your climate.

Pulverize seems to work really well if your looking for a natural product thats ready to use.
