Almond branch succumbed. What should I do?
It looks to have had previous damage on the top where it broke. I’d prune it off. You can expect one or more strong shoots to fill in. Or train one to fill in.
It’s a shame to get that wet snow after it’s started leafing out.
I’d agree, unless you have grafted some variety onto it which would be lost. If that is the case, tying it up might be an option (think of it like a big graft, which already has some connection ). Maybe adding a pole support would help too.
Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll just cut it off. Good thing it happened now. Burnt Ridge is sending me a scion to graft onto it this week, so I’m glad I didn’t graft it on this weak link.
Just thought that I’ll chop it down further and graft the Burnt Ridge scion there, so hopefully that will work.
Makes me wanna cry!!!
