Branch Rejuvinatioin

Eager to try the first fruits from this cultivar I ignored everything I knew I should due and did not thin the branch.

Like expected the branch broke and I lost most of the fruit anyway. I tied the branch back to the split and it successfully healed.

Now in the 2 or 3 years that followed it either did not flower or set a single fruit. So It is time to admit my folishness and rejuvinate this limb. I am going to cut it off below the split and let this lower shoot take over

My question guys is the timing. Today or 1 month from now.
