Maybe an obscure topic, but I’ve been getting a (slight) kick out of reading fruit descriptions I’ll never have room to grow (sort of how I like reading cookbooks, even if I never make anything in them).
There are 3 editions plus of course ‘additions’ published after the 3rd ed. My question is, does the 3rd (& 2nd) have all the same descriptions published in the earlier plus those since, or are there differences?
Asking since It’d be a hassle out here in the provinces to ILL a copy so might buy one instead; older is cheaper.
Harold Olmo was a pomologist at UC Berkeley Ag Extension (which became UC Davis). He acquired over 2k grape cultivars now housed at NCGR Davis. The Gold Monukka variety I distributed is one of his crosses.
Each of the additions are unique, not cumulative with all older cultivars being repeated in the newer additions. But the 3rd edition is really a bit dated as well. As you mentioned, the newer additions occur every other year as supplements to HortScience, and many have been published since the last B&O edition.
