Brown mold/fungus on muscadine vine

I’m pruning some muscadines that have not been pruned for several years and noticed brown mold/fungus on the older/larger vines. These vines really don’t have any new buds along the vine even though the ends are green. Is this mold/fungus a problem? Should I cut these older vines out and let the smaller vines replace them?

I’ve been thinking about cutting them out anyway since all the cordon are dead till you get to the end and I’m not sure if new cordon will grow out next spring in the middle of the trellis?

I don’t know the fungus as I have just started with muscadines. However, I expected to renovate my vines every few years by growing a new shoot and replacing the trunk. Might be time for that if you can? How old are the plants?
For people who have experience with vines, does this keep down disease?

Not sure how old they are since I just bought the property. The vines along the wire are as thick as a banana.
