Buds Flowers and Fruit - 2023 Edition

Hickory… huge buds erupt and send out all that.

That is most likely a red or pig … hard to tell for sure when young.

Late Early Mcintosh blooms… probably 20% left.

Early Early Mcintosh blooms.

Seedless Concord

Mt Royal Eu Plum blossom.

My Rosy Guage had first blooms this year… maby 15… then started leaves… them my Mt Royal produced 8 or so blossoms… and is starting on leaves now.

5yr olds… supposed to be pollination partners… but missed blooming at the same time by just a few days. Just my luck.

Perhaps in future years they bloom longer and pollinate ?

Mt Royal is supposed to be partially self fertile… Rosy Guage is not.

You might get a few Mt. Royals. Maybe hand pollinate them for better odds.

A nice dogwood

Not sure…but appears to be a fungus. Almost looks like a pine cone full of pine nuts…I wish.

All this time I thought it was a fungus but it is actually a plant. “non-photosynthesizing…parasitic…dependent on the host … for its nourishment”. Sounds like the politicians of the plant world.

My apricots started blooming! Let’s hope they don’t get frozen.

Lovely plant with awsome blooms !
Why is it kept so small size wise ?

The planing is only in its 4th leaf and I think the apricots are a bit stunted especially the first few years. It is unintentional!

Thanks so much, Trevor! When I paint them . . . I’ll let you know!
