It’s always fascinating to see how much more slowly pawpaws wake up for me here in Seattle vs in their native range (I assume you’re on the east coast). Looks like no flowers this year on any of mine (fourth leaf since planting as 1-gal recently grafted trees in Feb 2021). Here’s the only one showing any sign of budding out yet, this is Susquehanna:
Took a little stroll out in my yard this morning to ‘shoot some flowers’.
Great color! I planted some fancy irises last fall. Only one is blooming so far . . . but they are gorgeous!
I’m glad I read a few posts to this effect recently. I was beginning to wonder if the two paw paw trees I purchased were ever going to come out of hibernation. Most of my early varieties came out of hibernation over a month and a half ago.
TDE3/“Tahoe Gold” mandarin has started flowering, though interestingly only on two branches out of ~8-10 similar sized branches. On the south side only. They sure do smell wonderful, hopefully they’ll lure some more pollinators into the open doors of the greenhouse (for the avocados’ sake, mostly).
