Carmine Jewel starting to turn.
How is the taste of Hall’s Beauty compared to the UArk erect blackberries?
Wow, unusual and spectacular blooms! Very nice. Zippy sure know how to pose for a picture.
I followed your advice and cut the top off after blooming. I also planted some in ground within fern patch. It may not survive the winter here, but worth of trying
I haven’t tried any of those, but Hall’s Beauty measured 17 brix and the flavor was very good.
only one of the 4 native persimmons I’ve planted over the years is alive.
anyway, here’s a baby apple or two.
it’s 3 years in the ground. I might let it keep a couple to taste.
euro plum off and running. pruned tips today, ladybugs and a few aphids.
this himrod looked dead until last week.
poppies, walkin onion, fig props
and some figs getting there, these just finally got to full sun from the greenhouse.
a didier tulip (?) that survived the great Squirrel Invasion of 2022
long dead hostas reappearing. why? it’s fine.
black raspberries are reliable.
My Chicago Hardy is staked and pulled…
Positioning shoots to maximize sun to each one.
They usually start ripening in August and finish in November.
Clubquat?
That dragonfruit doing a good photobomb too haha
Novamac apple espellar…
Climax blueberries…starting to get a few ripe berries in many clusters… time to employ bird protection… organza bags.
Gerardi dwarf…
Flavor Grenade Pluot still going strong. Another huge rainfall of about 3 inches yesterday and overnight. 8 inches for the week. I’m guessing splitting of fruit is more an issue when they are close to ripe and have softer skin?
Currently the fruit is about 95% unmarked and a nice size.
Still think in my climate there is no way they wait until September to ripen.
Seems like the hardly hardy kiwis will have a good load of fruit after all.
Also it’s probably time to get rid of (graft over) all my male argutas, unless Red Jumbo turns out to be a true female unlike the Weiki and Ken’s Red in the pics. For some reason the nurseries keep messing the kiwi sex up all the time.
Black alba mullberries are getting a slight blush (way before ripening) while nigras are still grass green and still mid-pollination.
