My mulberries. One is a Miss Kim and the other is Honeydrops. not sure which cultivar is which picture here. One ready to pop and the other not looking so hot.
Some Gooseberries. Glen Dale and Captivator are looking the strongest and earliest to leaf out. I’m afraid one of my previous strongest, black velvet, may have died last year. It lost its leaves early and I went to prune it yesterday and several branches seemed dead. we will see if it comes back. Poorman is always the last to leaf out so no pictures of that yet.
Trillium, sweet william, morels. Early to mid April here. Here trillium are normally found low on a north to north east facing hillside in heavy timber. Never thought about transplanting them to a garden bed…
Very cool pictures! I’ve actually never seen it in the wild in MD, though it’s supposed to be here. My county has a great native sale in spring and fall with a vast array of hard to find natives. I put them in a dappled sun spot by a tree.
your trillium look different from ours. we have the wine red ones and the white with red center ones. our leaf colors are solid green. not variegated like yours. they grow and flower in early spring when the fiddleheads 1st come out. ive read trillium take a long time to grow and flower. i have both colors growing in my back hedgerow.
Persimmon flowers developing. I was under the impression that male flowers are in trios while females are single, and that differentiation occurred early in development, but it looks like some of the side buds are drying up leaving only the single middle bud. Will be interesting to see if they become female or single males.
Bloom fruit picture question for anyone- is this a cherry?? I have not had a cherry tree produce yet. This is a new container rainier cherry tree that broke dormancy very early and bloomed a few weeks ago
