Good King Henry waking up.
Autumn Magic Aronia.
Red Lake Currant
Rhubarb and Lovage.
A bed holding random cuttings. A mix of black Currants. Some named Gooseberries. Profusion Sorrel. Skirret that overwintered. Some random Autumn Magic Aronia I root suckers.
An example of my horsetail farm in my beds mulch.
Our spice rose bush is starting bloom, don’t know what variety, only that it’s a deep red/purple with a very nice scent.
Plus our peonies are about to pop open. Ants are going after the nectar on the buds.
Named variety Tulips grow for one and two years and then die off in my location. The smaller flowered species tulips do much better. The clumps enlarge and sometimes seed themselves.
I’m always impressed when I see how many blooms cherry trees put out.
I’m not overly optimistic on my chances of growing a cherry tree old enough to bloom, but I’m trying anyway.
I have two, both seven years old now and this is the second year they’re really loaded. Until last year I worried that they’d never produce more than a few fruits. There’s a tree I walk by sometimes that is always so covered in blooms you can’t even see the branches. Our short season means trees here take twice as long as those down south to really come into production. I bet you’ll get masses of blooms on yours in 2 or 3 years!
If they live!
Can hardly wait to try Top Shelf blueberries. They’re going to be big according to how big they are merely sizing up right now.
These viola’s are SOOOO pretty.
Blanka and Rovada Currant are by far surpassing everyone in production right now and they’re only in their second year. I got them last and they were barely 6 inch sticks. Plus aphids don’t seem to like them as much which are great!
Blanka doing a little more than Rovada but Rovada has berries more spread out along it’s stem.
Excelsior japanese plum lightening in color a bit. First fruit on this grafted branch.
Beauty japanese plum. First fruit on this grafted branch.
Looks like it’s living up to its name. Is it pretty good tasting fruit?
Please publish your taste opinion of the fruit.I grafted some this year.
Assuming they make it to ripe, i will. I only have 5 fruit so…
Yes, I like AU Producer fruit. They are easy to eat and consistently 7 or 7.5/10 for flavor with good texture during a good window. Compared to favorites like Splash Pluot, or Howard Miracle that can be a 10, or close to it, but sometimes no good if picked at the wrong time or a bad season.
Black Sapote flowers. I may knock them off since it is still young, but I do want to see it bloom
Peanut butter fruit blooms. Got quite a few on one tree, maybe 10ish pairs of spikes. Second one is finally forming some.
Acorn squash seedling (from a store fruit) sizing up.
Seminole Pumpkin got pollinated and is sizing up too.
Todays harvest. Serranos, Jalepenos, multiple types of tomatoes, and sunberries. Also a Dragon’s Egg and a Marketmore cuke in there. Had my first hornworm of the season though
Novamac apple blooms long… this may be the last set to bloom.
Novamac apples on and sizing up.
