Buds, Flowers and Fruits- 2025 edition

Oenothera fruiticosa flowering. Silly little plant was stepped on by something, but didn’t snap and is growing/flowering on the ground now in three clumps. New native for me and love it.

For those Flavor Grenade growers. At what stage do you pick yours? I grabbed a few to see if they finish up with a bit of counter time.

When they become reddish in color, see the photo for a couple of bird pecked ones that were almost ready for picking.

Wow…that’s much deeper in color than I came close to last year…which was the first yesr fruiting.

I’m not sure I can get them far here before they rot, but I’ll try at least a few dozen.

It’s really subjective.I like them a little riper than your pictured ones, yellowish, with a blush, but still crunchy. The ones that Ahmad has,are somewhat well done for me.

Luckily I have plenty to eat at all stages.

I was surprised last year that they were edible at a light green color. No sour or astringent taste, just not as sweet. If I can eat from one tree for 4 some odd weeks, that’s a win in my book.

My pineapple that has been in the basement in the dark since September is fruiting now.

Raspberries are ripening.

Strawberries are finishing up.

The semisweet cherries are ending too.

Gooseberries are getting larger still.

Mulberries are high ripening and I have a rainbow of options: black, purple, white, pink, lavender, and red.

The one that is red when ripe is very unique of all the wild mulberries I’ve ever tried its juice is red unlike the others that are purple and it is tart enough to make me wink even when overripe.

Also wonder if it is possible to breed a orange mulberry by crossing the white and the red because the red is orange when underripe?

better get some mulch under those straws or they will mold and spoil on you.

Nighttime photos show the fruit much better.

Last of honeyberries that birds missed.

First time Ozarkblue blueberries growing

Nanking cherry. I picked one a little early to try. Tasty but quite a big stone inside.

Small but powerful barberries. I like them!

Conference pear growing in tiny 20L pot.

I noticed my mulberries starting to turn.

Fowers starting and some open on these two blackberries. Thanks again, @krismoriah!
The last one is slower to get going.

@wdingus … that pink mountain laurel is very pretty.

I have only found white here… so far… at my place.

Have you ever tried transplanting those ?

I bet I could find some pink down by a local river here.
