Bulk Plant Labels/Tags

Does anyone know a good source for bulk plant labels/tags? I am using some that I got off of Amazon, but the plastic gets weak and crumbly in the sun. I am looking for better soft plastic ones that are more UV resistant. Quantities of 1000 or more would be great.

I am not interested in aluminum or steel tags.

Thanks!

I like these. I usually find them on Ebay. I like the 9" better, but 7" is usually what is listed: Flexible 7" x 3/4" Plastic Loop Plant Tags {Set of 250} tree LABELS -wrap around | eBay

Those are a pretty good price. Looks like they are out of stock. I may call them tomorrow. Thanks! Would you say they stand up well to the sun?

How well do these hold up to the sun?

Thanks.

Very well, they don’t get crispy in the sun like the rigid vinyl ones. I use one of the oil based Sharpie paint pens with them and they last pretty well. Red ones with a white sharpie paint pen have done really well for me. I use the red to mark cider varieties and white for fresh eating/baking varieties. Just search Ebay for Plant Tags and you’ll get a few vendors.

I use a paint marker too. The bright/neon colors fade very quickly. The metallic colors, especially gold, seem to last forever.

I’m curious to hear why you don’t like the metal versions available.

I actually do like them for my very long-term orchard situations. I do not like them for my bench grafts. First, I do not know if the graft will be successful. Second, they are difficult to read quickly and from a distance. Third, they take more time to prepare.

Slightly off topic but, I hope to be helpful,
I buy and strip down the best priced Venetian blinds I can find at W@ ЦMart.
I take away all the hardware and just run a bunch at a time through my table-saw cut to about 5 to 6 inches long.

I use the “full sized” markers in the garden.
I further break these “full sized” markers by hand to smaller pieces (four to eight of them) for seedling markers in my planting cells.

I use a pencil to write with as it is the most permanent (go figure).
