Buying a bare root tree way too late

Seen a sale for bare root Bush cherry. Our bare root season ended months ago but wondering if I ordered the plants and just potted them In light sun up until fall if this would be successful. Anyone tried something like this?

Sure, no problem at all in potting them up. Just pay strict attention to watering while keeping them in partial shade. Good luck to you!

That’s what I ended up doing with a plum I got on sale. I potted it up and put it in the shadiest part of my yard. It’s leafing out nicely. Just don’t forget to water it!

I bought an Ersinger plum on sale from Raintree, intending it for elsewhere, and was surprised at its size. Decided I must not put it in an orchard, but in the one remaining place in my yard. I gave it a dose of Dr. Earth™ fungus & such today. Buds are breaking. Could be a good thing, even though we’ve already had a day of 90°F.
