This is an interesting documentary on how red food die is made from cochineal bugs Cochineal - Wikipedia that live on nopal cactus. Getting to eat the fruits and pads of the nopal cactus is a bonus if you live in these areas.

Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. I would have never known this existed. I was in Oaxaca last winter and wish I could have checked this out!
