Can I prolong the growing season for cherries

I am trying to regrow branches on my cherry trees that were damaged by deer. The new branches are very tender and small. Can I put the small trees in a greenhouse until December to keep them growing before releasing them to the winter temperatures? Will they still have enough energy to grow that late in the year? Will they automatically go into dormancy before then?

They will continue to grow in the greenhouse provided that they have not already stopped active summer growth, it is a bit late to hope for a new growth spurt if they have stopped. If they are still active you can keep watering them and put them in the greenhouse and then when temps drop in the greenhouse or they dry out, they will go into winter dormancy.
