Cedar mulch in planters

I’m planning on adding cedar mulch to my potting soil mix for fruit trees. @Drew51 or anyone know if there is a problem with that?

Well in general you are not supposed to add sap wood. It takes a lot of nitrogen to break down, so you would need to add more than normal nitrogen. If bark, I don’t see an issue I know of?

the white cedar we have has aellopathic properties and takes a very long time to break down. i have never seen even weeds grow thru cedar mulch. i wouldn’t add to soil unless its well composted. i have used it in limited amounts as mulch but i keep it well away from the trunk.
