even if not on-the-dot about determining actual sugar content, it will still give you a relativistic reference when testing different fruits. No need to calibrate, since there are no moving parts(other than the lid, which shouldn’t be subject to wear and tear), and no electronics involved. Distilled water is all that’s really needed to wash away solutes.

I have that model. I believe the instruction suggested we calibrated it which we did. It has worked fine for us.
