Been collecting Sweet Chestnuts, Castanea sativa from a long standing urban Grove and just wanted to share the good feelings and a couple pictures. It’s amazing that just last year I was harvesting chestnuts to grow and currently I have 50 odd saplings that I don’t know what to do with! This year is different as there is less squrriel pressure due to the Garry oaks cropping an abundance of acorns, so many of the squirrels are distracted. I’m finding on average decently sized kernels, most hulls yield 2 with the 3rd being skinny and shrunken.
