Hello friends, I have a Chinese apricot tree on the south side of my house in Taos, NM that I planted spring of 2016. The tree itself is flourishing and has grown huge in 7 years. However, it flowers very sparsely and produces little or no fruit. I have another apricot tree nearby that does flower but is too young to fruit. I am blaming the lack of fruit on my Chinese on the sparse flowering, as other apricots I see are covered with blooms. It does seem to have a very fertile spot - as it grows well each year and I have never fertilized it. We water weekly during the summer and monthly during the winter. Any one have any thoughts? any help much appreciated… Thanks Peggy
Consider applying up to 2 lbs of potassium phosphate under the tree canopy next winter, but not close to the trunk.

Thanks Richard - I will try that. I appreciate your help. Peggy
I am wondering what Potassium Phospate does for fruit trees? Is there an organic product that you might recommend?? thanks Peggy
Potassium phosphate is a naturally occurring mineral that is also manufactured for use in agriculture. It provides nutrients necessary for bloom and fruit production.
thanks - I will try it. Let you know if it works…
Hello Richard and all,
I did apply the potassium phosphate just as you recommended, and the apricot bloomed beautifully this year. Unfortunately, the night after I took this photo, the temperature dropped to 20 degrees, and it seems as though most of the blooms did freeze. But there are some not yet out - so hope springs eternal. At least I got the blooms!!!! And the bees loved them, and they were beautiful!!!
