Chip Budding apples on young green seedlings?

Interesting. I do a lot of bark grafting for persimmons in the field and get high success rates as well. I went with chip budding for several reasons for this application. First, I have lots of these small seedlings and a limited supply of scions, mostly from GRIN. My first priority with the scions was to graft some seedlings I planted in the field last year. I wanted to graft them above chest height so I can see what kind of apples the seedlings themselves produce below the graft. Chip budding let me make very efficient use of the scions I had left. Also with such small seedlings, I assumed they would do less damage to the tree if they failed.
