Citrus - Overlapping Root

This is my in-ground Washington Navel orange tree. One root seems to go the other way and is rubbing against the main trunk. Do I leave it alone or do I prune it out next spring?

I doubt that would hurt anything. It’s not going to girdle the trunk. But cutting it out won’t hurt either. If it bothers you remove where it attaches to the bigger root.

What fruitnut said. Frankly, I’d not worry about it as it isn’t strangling the trunk.

Thanks. I’ll leave it alone.

Here it is a year and a half later. The tree seems to be growing around it, not a problem. Thanks guys!
