Is the netting to prevent birds from getting all the fruit?

This thread is for fruit tree enclosures built with welded-wire fencing and lath or metal struts. For nets, see Netting Fruit Trees. Nice location! My moms crabapple did great and put on some growth.
I bet its an excellent pollinator too.
