I toured a 140 acre farm in North Carolina today that produces slips for commercial growers. Today they were planting the beds that will sprout and produce slips. Note how many pounds are planted. Once covered with soil, the beds are covered with perforated clear plastic until sprouts start in several weeks.

Next year’s start of “seed potatoes” for slips. Virus free slips greenhouse grown to produce slips to be planted in field in May to produce potatoes like in photos above to be planted in 2025.

Herbicide plus fungicide ahead of plastic. Enough volume of water to add some moisture to beds. Hence, the large tank.
