Confess: what have you ordered for spring 26?

Anyone else start off with a small list that swelled and got out of hand? Share what you are getting! I have orders at 13 places and “need” to place 2-3 more. It’s absurd. Many are small orders that were just great deals. Way too much money wasted on shipping. Do I need anything in those entirely impulsive orders I placed at Monticello shop or Roots to Fruits this week? Or Mail Order Natives, Sow Exotic and Hirts where I also got sucked into unplanned deals over the holidays? Absolutely not. The edible gardens have a hefty carbon footprint! My original plan to not blow up March has failed, again. The only positive I can say is that there is only one far away nursery purchase this year (Whitmans), which was intentional. Although, when I learned that she charges shipping by box size, getting just one thing made no sense—I had to fill up the box, right? Plus, next year I won’t “need” nearly as much…(repeating what I said last spring)

So, what are you getting this Spring?

I planned ahead and did some fall planting so that I could reduce my spring workload. The reason to reduce my workload is that I am taking on a 2000 tree ecobuffer planting and don’t want the fruit trees suffering.

However, I still did order the following to be planted while dealing with the ecobuffer:

1x Green Elf Cherry Plum
1x Ivanovka Plum
10x Canada plum
1x Arctic Dawn Apricot
1x Arctic Dusk Apricot
1x Arctic Twilight Apricot
1x Big Red Cherry
1x Porthos Cherry
1x Athos Cherry
10x Boreal Bliss Haskap
2x Somerset Grape
10x Wild Blackberry

Edit: I forgot. I also ordered about 30 more Aurora and 10 additional Honeybee haskap…

I’m still considering adding another plum to my order, or separately ordering some apple scion wood. I also know that if I see some reduced price nursery sales, I will likely hop on them…

I’ve nearly convinced myself not to order additional garden seed (I have more than enough), or any extra perennial plants… but I am weak… We shall see…

Nothing. I choose free resource. Last purchases were for apples, pears, nectarines, and cherries. Everything now went up in price or selling you a smaller tree for more money.

8 x grape cuttings.
8 x pomegranate cuttings from seedling. There are are volunteer from seeds too.
8 x lychee seedlings. 3 are struggling because of the cold.
6 x avocado seedlings. 1 is grafted (Reed or Beacon).
3 x guava cuttings from seedling. Sweet guava better than tropical pink or white.
2 x mandarin cuttings. Trying to make more mandarin and navel.
A bunch of loquat volunteers.

Sure did get out of hand here. Ordered the rest of the stone fruits on my list and waiting for delivery. Then decided to get two 4 x 8 raised beds, then needed soil. Then decided I needed strawberries and asparagus for one bed. I thought if I get strawberries, have blackberries, I only need blueberries for my favorite yogurt topping combo, so ordered four southern blueberry types. Purchased acidifying components to make lower PH soil mixes for plants I have already, which will divert to the blueberry half barrel planters. Thankfully, I have all the planters I need from planting stuff in the ground. Then husband caught the bug and wanted to improve my raised garden bed mock up and he went in on the 4x4s and other items needed to make a 9’ high pergola over the garden beds that we can throw shade cloth over or train vining plants to. Then to help with the watering while we may not be able to here and there, a bunch of ollas. Big spring splurge…

Business starting costs. Hoping to make most of the money back this year and go profitable next year.

Last years sales were around $600 with basically no investment.

Looking to get about 900 in the spring this year, and $2000 sales throughout the season.

I’m waiting to see what gets killed this winter to see what might need to be replaced. I have gotten some seeds and tubers. I have spots for a couple more raspberries and one blackberry, hoping to find a honey queen, cascade yellow, and Illini hardy. I might put a couple plums in the front yard, despite saying I’d leave that space open…

This thread is making me feel very good about some previous years where I had thought I ordered an absurd amount in an effort to establish our orchard…

This year so far I’ve got a small list of things from a citrus nursery for the greenhouse and some pawpaw scion and that’s it.

I’m afraid to keep records of purchases… I’d probably be in the same spend bracket. Without direct evidence, I have plausibe deniability and a sense of denial. :stuck_out_tongue:
