Container Grown Kaki Persimmons

That’s what i thought too, but not sure. If I remember I’ll ask Jim Gilbert at the Home Orchard Society annual meeting on Saturday.

Bear_with_me, I hope to see you there. I’ll be missing Stanford/Colorado football :frowning:

SMC - thanks for the info! OGW suggests it is parthenocarpic. I will look into it more, otherwise might need to find some male scion. Not wanting to wait 3-5 years to find out! :grinning:

I mention rootstock because I imagine, but dont know, that in containers the fibrous rootstock of D. lotus might be an advantage. It seems to make sense.

Murky, wish I could be there. In a few months, there will be more time for things I enjoy!

Your container persimmon trees look fabulous. I am in Vancouver/Burnaby Canada so it’s marginal for outdoors persimmons which is one reason I keep 5 out of 7 persimmons (3 Izu & 2 Fuyu) in 35g planter pots. The 2 Uzi in my big greenhouse are fruiting very well for 2nd year trees. Here’s a pic (trees on the left side of pic)
