Ditto, PomGranny, on the no spray sentiment. I too did not spray enough…of the insecticides that is. My peaches looked great because I regularly applied a few different anti-fungals to stay ahead of the rot but the oriental fruit moth visited in great numbers and virtually every peach had a worm or two in the pit. We did get some…enough for a couple of pies and a couple rounds of jam but, compared to what we should have gotten, that was small. Just wait till next year. Being retired gives us time to do it right.

I’m not absolute about no spray, but I’ll try other methods whenever it seems reasonable. My yield and quality on peaches are pretty solid with proactive winter pruning, fruit thinning and netting. It’s a lot of work, but mostly in a season when I’m not bogged down with other tasks anyway. My trees are also kept pruned within easy reach though, so no ladders are needed for this undertaking. I understand that some folks might not have the time or physical ability to handle that type of work.
