Cumberland Valley Nursery

Picked up my trees from CVN this past Thursday. Four varieties of crabapples and a plum tree. Some had to be trimmed back to fit in the box. Great size and great root systems. Always good quality from CVN. 9 trees for $45. No one can beat their prices.

Hard to see how they make ends meet. Undocumented workers, partly, I imagine.
Still…it’s the place some local Kentucky retail outlets buy plants and put them in pots and can retail them for $16 or something like that at the garden centers.
(Such as one in Somerset, KY and one in Corbin, KY).

They grew out almost 1 million trees this year. And they grow other crops on field rotation and make money on those crops, too. They’re also the primary grower for Gurneys and Henry Fields. They seem to be doing pretty well. I’m just glad they’re close enough I can just drive over there :slightly_smiling_face:

Edited to add that I do get a bit of a discount from buying on location. But even if you order over the phone and have the trees shipped, their prices are still far below everyone else. Vaughn Nursery may be close, but I haven’t bought from them in a few years.

Rob- Would you mind taking pics of the CVN catalog to show the rest of us?

Thanks, Jerry!

And even though the catalog says it, there is no minimum order.

Thank you

I got a new catalog emailed to me yesterday. Not much new that i can see… actually alot of out of stocks and a note that says due to drought some trees are smaller than normal. Maybe someone will post the catalog and a new thread. Prices are similar if not the same.

They always have more than what they list in the brochure. You just need to call and ask. I’ll be going back first of the year to pick up more trees.

Edited to add that, yes, we had a very dry summer this year. The cicada damage didn’t help.
