Cytospora canker on apricot tree?

Hello again. I have a 3 ish year old apricot tree that started oozing sap about a month ago. I was initially thinking borers but after looking closer I found that under the bark it is brow and dying. It reaches all the way down the east side of the trunk and a little on the west side. On the west Side of the trunk underneath the bark it is green and alive but on the opposite side it is brown and dying. Is this a large canker? Suggestions on how to help this tree. It is a dwarf rootstock. I don’t know what type but I bought it from stark brothers.

After research I’m almost sure that this is what it is. Is it possible to carve out that half of the trunk and paint it with sealer?

I don’t have an apricot tree but have peach and cherry trees that had canker. I did not do anyhting but gave them some nitrogen fertilizer to feed the trees and make sure they grow well (no water stress or other external stress). Healthy trees can fight off canker and recover. My trees healed with ugly scars.

I don’t cut off the affected area but others may.
