Dew Drop Pear

The Ure is prolific but not great eating I haven’t tried Hudar, but my son has a beautiful Golden Spice. The Golden Spice pears are small, around 2.5 inches but they are tasty. No comparison to the larger pears but still good for outside in our zone.

ETA maybe up to 3”

I am skeptical that these are Dew Drop, the pictures of them on the internet look a like they are more elongated and have more of a blush. It won’t be the first time I bought a mislabeled fruit tree.

Zone 4a/b Canada. 3 a/b USDA.

Dew Drop has had zero dieback. Nice branch angles made better with training. Probably still 1-2 years till fruit but I think I see some spurs so fingers crossed for a taste this year. This is from yesterday’s pruning.

If you get fruit it would be nice if you posted some pictures, I would like to compare mine and see if what I have is actually Dew Drop.

I grafted Dew Drop onto a dwarf Clapps tree about 2 years ago. It has grown pretty well, this year is the first fruiting. The crop is small, but I only grafted one limb. I sure hope they don’t drop off in June for whatever reason.

I was a little surprised to see that it got pollinated at all, as it blommed earlier than my other trees and only one small pear tree had any blooms at the same time as it.

I sure hope I get to taste test it this year as I’ve really been looking forward to tasting the results of our Canadian breeding program.
