Has anyone tried lining the interior of black plastic pots with felt? I was worried about having enough structure to easily move around fabric potted container trees and ordered a lot of pro cal plastic pots. They’re heavy duty, and I’ve been gathering amazon bubble wrap packages to wrap them for sun/heat protection, but concerned about interior root systems. Wondering if I can improve root health by lining the interior with felt to mimic a grow bag? Any crafty people tries this with success? I get my first bareroot shipment this week.
i hope you give it a trial! you could also try poly batting, or both
we have a container thread going of people doing creative things with growing containers: https://growingfruit.org/t/pots-and-bags-and-containers-oh-my if you give it a go would you post in there as well?

Awesome, thank you!
The fabric in plastic will function like plastic not fabric. Fabric root prunes because the outer layer of media dries out. In a pot the outer layer won’t dry out. The fabric might slow the roots a bit but likely not much.
Give it a try and see what happens. I could be wrong.

Interesting, thank you for your insight! I have a ton of felt laying around so I did make some quick liners, and I’ll let you know how it looks when I up pot next year.
