but does anyone grow it?
I have been looking for seed to grow this again. I grew maca about 15 years ago. It was variable. Some plants grew large fat roots, others didn’t produce any edible root.
I heard it does not like hot soil so grew it is a Styrofoam box, no idea if that helped or not. I only let the largest ones flower, and saved seed from the ones with the largest roots, but the resultant seedlings were just as variable.
The leaves are also edible and taste peppery. I think when raw/fresh the roots were too peppery for my liking so I mostly ate them dried.
