After a 3 yr search for a Dollywood, through this site I was encouraged to graft my own. I was finally able to secure ten American Persimmon Tree bare root stock from Mehrabyan Nursery and now am waiting for my scions from Clifford England. I have never done any of this before so any suggestions would be appreciated. Some of the rootstock are smaller than a pencil so they may have to wait until next year. I potted them in 5 gal grow bags since I’m not able to water every other day due to travel. I’ll post a photo if I can figure out how. New to site as well. Good Growing to all. jmm
Be patient, bare root Persimmon can take awhile to wake up. Let them wake up before you graft.
Your scions will most likely not all be pencil size either.
Match the scion to rootstock before you cut. Make sure cambiums line up, this is where the magic happens.
No mater what graft you use wrap tight enough the scion won’t wiggle.
A lot of graft failures are caused by the scion moving during callous.
Do not let anything grow beneath the graft. This will keep the energy going to the graft instead of around it.
Good luck!

Thank you JCW,
I measured them this morning with a micrometer and they all are close to being 3/16" above the first bud. Since I’ve never grated before it looks like micro surgery to me! I may have to wait a year but now concerned about preserving the scions. I’m a fig person and propagation is child’s play compared to this! lol
Again thanks for info! jmm
Looks like he (she) might make trees available via shipping?

Thank you! Looks interesting.
Is this nuttrees.yellomon.com site posted in above comment a fake scammer site pretending to be Cliff’s site which is actually https://www.nuttrees.net ? Or are both valid sites?
@KYnuttrees
EDIT: as Cliff mentions below, its a new site they working on.
That is Clifford England and he no longer ships due to health issues. Must pick up all stock. He will mail scion wood which he did for me. Thanks.
