Yeah, they used to use regular rainbird lawn sprinklers on standups. Some might put micros on poles the same way, but it kind of negates the water saving advantages of drip. Overhead watering has a lot of evaporation. When micros are put near the ground under the canopy, there is less evaporation.
Some growers might still be able to get water out of the Sacramento river. There is a lot going on in the central valley over water. If the suppy is limited, growers won’t want to loose any.
