I planted an Izu persimmon this week and immediately upon planting it’s leaves started folding / drooping. Given its late is late season I explicitly avoided doing any root work to hopefully avoid shock as much as possible. The Cardinal nearby in the same conditions and watering seems happy. Any thoughts or suggestions or just like it ride?
Probably just transplant shock, even without root work. Persimmons are drama queens about being moved, especially this time of year when evaporation is high and the roots haven’t settled in yet. I’d just keep it watered consistently and give it a couple weeks. The fact that it leafed out fine before the move is a good sign, the root system is there, it just needs to re-establish contact with the surrounding soil.

My concern is how close it is to the wall. I’m wondering if it could be something in the mortar or bricks that it doesn’t like. Either way, I’d be moving it much farther out from there. If it survives, it will get quite tall…30+’.
