The Dyehouse cherry, a once-popular pie cultivar that originated in Lincoln County, Kentucky, ca. 1860, may have been rediscovered in recent years in Somerset, Ky:

Anyone know anything about the Dyehouse cherry recovery project?

I don’t know anything about the project but I am glad you posted. Dyehouse cherries were grown in my area at one time. When I learned about them I wanted to plant one but I then found out they were extinct. It’s good to see that they found this lost cultivar and are propagating it again.
