Bounce your weed whacker on the grass a few times. Makes a nice 14 inch spot that is easy to see.

I found a way that i like last year myself. I dump a 5 gallon bucket of woodchips where my next tree is going about this time of year or in a week or so when it gets cooler. The grass and chips are devoured by worms and things by the time that i plant and the ground where i dig is soft and moist from the tilling and aeration. Probably the same thing could be done with leaves or hay or anything organic. YMMV

Good idea. I don’t have any chips, but maybe it could be done with grass clippings.
