Elderberries 2026

I bet you still have some there if nothing else cleaned them out.

id just grow them from cuttings. much easier and quicker. take dormant cuttings in the fall. stick them where you want them before the ground freezes. put some mulch around them. they will root over winter and grow hard come spring. if you want alot of them grow them as a hedge in a line. you want a one and done cultivar , get johns. it sends up shoots 10ft. from the plant and gets 15ft tall. super productive with huge cymes 16in. across. beware though, give this one some room. if you want some cuttings of it , let me know.

Just wanted to confirm 100% this was not elderberry. Pulled it out last night, super small and shallow roots typical of Bidens frondosa. Going to the compost pile, glad I asked before it set those annoying seeds. Thanks again!

Anyone made elderberry syrup using mulberries to sweeten it? I was just batching a large batch of syrup today thinking maybe that would be good. I love raw honey for a multitude of reasons, but it’s expensive and too sweet for my tastes (good for kids).
