Question about suckers being sent out by my American Elderberries. Is there a certain distance away from the original planting I should remove the suckers? I remember reading an article where it was advised when pruning to remove all suckers ~ 1 foot away from the original planting and all canes > 4 years old. I believe the sucker removal was for bigger, better fruit and a bush-like habit instead of a hedge. Thanks!
