Englands latest persimmons

@KYnuttrees as we know is an expert persimmon developer. Not all fruit he grows are ones he developed himself. A few hours ago he made a new post about one such persimmon i did not know about. We are all thankful for his many new types of fruits. @tonyOmahaz5 has always spoke highly of Cliff. Cliff made this recent post on his facebook. I love the shape and look forward to hearing more about Zirochka / "Star” UKR F 2020. The information and pictures below are Cliffs. @KYnuttrees when will you have these available for sale? The growingfruit community has always been strong supporters of nurseries doing a great job! When someone has a great sale or an event we will post it. The same is true when a new fruit is released.

"Zirochka / "Star” UKR F 2020

I love the shape of this one, very unique and First year to Produce

Is there any information out there about it

Seems hardy enough for zone 6, Vigorous and we will have to see what the Taste is like"

As many of you know Cliff offers very rare persimmons as discussed here Hybrid persimmon 'Dar Sofiyivky' . Sometimes i purchase scions for various things from Cliff. If your new here and dont know the things Cliff offers start here http://nuttrees.net/

I guess he mean hybrid as a synonym for cross. Ukrainian sources mention.Batumskiy II as a clone of Kuro Gaki.

@Lech

Thank you, that is correct. A hybrid of kaki x american.

Pretty fruit!

I’m having trouble deciphering whether y’all actually agree. Is ‘Kuro Gaki’ a kaki x virginiana hybrid?

No, it isn’t. Kurogaki is a Diospyros kaki selection from Japan.

Thank you for the clarification. I did not realize that. I read hybrid not realizing they would have used something different to obtain cold hardiness.
