No. There are a number of different “Limbertwig” growth forms and sizes. Some apparently do not even droop…lol
Seedling effect perhaps???
It took me a while to understand “Victoria” and “Sweet” limbertwig are not the same as some sources claim. The coloration and general shape are different. And Victoria is very juicy.
There so many sport mutations and geography factors, this list hardly means anything to me.
What few Limbertwigs I’ve grown are very different.
The Royal and Swiss Limbertwigs are not weepers. The leaves are very large and require fungicide.
The Royal on an M111 was quite vigorous, but not quite as vigorous as a Mutsu or Aunt Rachel.
I once grew a Victoria on an M111 many moons ago. It’s a weeper. I moved a month before its first crop ripened.
The Swiss Limbertwig seems like a high vigor tree. 108” height on a Bud 9 @ first leaf. It’s going to bear heavily on 2nd leaf.
I have a Victoria on a Bud 9. The leaves on the Victoria are like blades. Stiffer than a Williams Pride and not prone to fungal issues. It’s seeming average to above average vigor. It’s wanting to bear @ first leaf and attained 6’ during the grafting year.
The VLT is a tree to be grown on M111s or comparable size. It’s a beautiful tree with deep rich green flawless foliage with a good weep.
Swiss, Royals are great for dwarf rootstock. They require more fuss and are strong growers.
