This is interesting. I knew you could scrub ethylene gas from air using potassium permanganate embedded media, but did not know there was a home version of it. We use permanganate embedded activated charcoal to scrub hydrogen sulfide at work, but the media was a bear for me to source.
These things could be useful to the home grower in a fridge for storing apples.
I smelt ethylene in my apple fridge today so⦠thinking about trying it next year when I should have more varieties start fruiting. Weather, pests, plague permitting.
I use Wisesorb 10gram packets. One packet per gallon ziplock bag. I can tell it works. Price wise compared to a Bluapple, I am not sure. But the way I store fruit, packets work better for me.
I am thinking about buying plastic apple storage bags. Havenāt really got a handle on that yet. I used 6 bottle fabric wine totes this year which would be great except the bottom of the sleeves isnāt generally attached to the bottom of the bag.
