Evaluation of European early ripening apples

As grown in Maryland. They were tested around 1950-60s.

They recommend Irish Peach and Signe Tillisch as the best, but also mention a few others that were good as well, like Laxton’s Fortune.

Just thought it might be of interest to others. There’s a lot of varieties, bloom charts and ripening charts for all the apples, a fireblight index…lots of really good info for anyone looking for early apples in the Mid-Atlantic.

My apologies that the link is somewhat clumsy. I was looking for Ruhm aus Kirchwarder (which also was recommended) so my link sort of dumps you in the middle of the article. Sorry , I can’t seem to figure out how to get a better link to the start of the article.
