Exceptionally Good Book for Apple Cooks

A customer just gifted me with Rowan Jacobsen’s “Apples of Uncommon Character” subtitiled “123 Heirlooms, Modern Classics and Little Known Wonders” published by Bloomsbury. I think all of you who are interested in descriptions and photos of some unusual apples you are tempted to grow and especially those like Mrs G who are particularly interested in culinary aspects would enjoy this book. Scott would likely enjoy the creative descriptions of the tastes of all these varieties. IMO, the man is a first rate food writer.

The writer is highly influenced by John Bunker but covers a wide range of apples beyond northern grown varieties.

Thanks Alan, sounds like a book I just have to have. “uncommon character” is intriguing in itself!
