Experience with Atago and Olympic Asian Pears?

I lost an Olympic, aka Korean Giant, Asian pear tree while it was getting established to fireblight and am considering whether to replace it with another Olympic. A commercial Asian pear grower recommended the variety Atago to me over Olympic, although the reasons are more relevant to a commercial grower.

If you have experience with both varieties, I would be interested in your opinions on the relative merits of the two–flavor of the fruit, storage life, tree habit, fireblight resistance, etc… Any information would be much appreciated.

Where are you located? It appears different locations yield a different result re. Fire blight resistance (or not).

Here in the northeast Atago doesn’t get up near the sugar of Olympic. It isn’t even worth growing IMO.
