I lost an Olympic, aka Korean Giant, Asian pear tree while it was getting established to fireblight and am considering whether to replace it with another Olympic. A commercial Asian pear grower recommended the variety Atago to me over Olympic, although the reasons are more relevant to a commercial grower.
If you have experience with both varieties, I would be interested in your opinions on the relative merits of the two–flavor of the fruit, storage life, tree habit, fireblight resistance, etc… Any information would be much appreciated.
