My H63A american persimmon is sporting some fall color now. Prok and Barbaras Blush have dropped all leaves already.

How much of a maple’s color is genetics and how much is soil and location? The reason i ask is I’m planning to collect scions from colorful maples and graft them to some drab ones.

I think it is more temps and weather prior and during the autumn season as to how the color of the leaves are. I noticed that when the temps are not cool at night and no rain. The leaves just turn sort of a brown color and fall off. With warm days temps and cool night temps the leaves get the beautiful autumn colors.

I found a late blooming forsythia i thought beside the road in an abandoned lot. This year it is blooming now in November. Wasps seem to enjoy it.

I have a deerberry bush in the edge of the woods… just off my back yard that has a few blossoms on it.
I have never seen one bloom in the fall.

Glenn Dale Gooseberry has beautiful fall foliage but I didn’t get a picture this year. I also love the colors on a sassafras tree in my side field. We have an October glory maple that is in its first leaf in ground and seeing some color, but I think the color will be much improved in future years.
