It is rare and because of that i doubt anyone knows the chill hours. If i guessed 500-800 chill hours that would be a generic reply since most pears fall into that group. I do know it is considered a zone 4-8 pear. If you fall into that criteria your chill hours should be ok.

I’m 8b but my chill hours usually range from 300-600 depending on the year. Probably not enough or I would try it.

Does anyone know of any vendors for Farmingdale scion? Because of the prevalence of OHxF it’s almost impossible to Google it.

Ewart has a superior flavor to farmingdale. You will taste the anjou in both.

Didn’t see it mentioned here but pawpaw fans will remember that Buckman was also a pawpaw enthusiast whose germplasm was sought unsuccessfully by Neal Peterson.
The history of this stuff is almost more fun than the plants themselves. Though owning a piece of history via an heirloom I guess is doubly exciting.

I have been following this thread for a couple of years and have learned quite a lot, but just joined. I am interested in purchasing scions or trees of Farmingdale pears, but have had no luck in finding them. I don’t if/when you will have available, but I would definitely like to purchase.

Welcome to the forum! I’m going to see what I can do to get these offerred this year through one of the nurseries. @Fusion_power is also interested in this pear. The thing I really love about this community is once they have things they share. I’m going to get it out there for everyone to have this year. Stay tuned I’m going to talk to @39thparallel and see if a mass shipping is possible.
