"Fat Girl" fig

Trying to track down info on Fat Girl, possibly Fat Boy fig, a local nickname for an old southern variety.

Here is photo. Do these figs look like Magnolia?

Check with the ā€œFigs R Usā€ forum.

Thanks Richard.

It does not appear to mention your ā€˜Fat Girlā€™ variety, but there is a U.C. Monograph of fig varieties which may be of future use. It also lists a number of prior catalogs of fig varieties at the outset.

Looks like Brunswick.

Yes it does, thank you. Are Magnolia and Brunswick the same fig?

I think soā€¦ Although Iā€™ve never seen a Magnolia. There is a chance it could also be the same as ā€œLong Brown Honey Figā€ which might be the same as Goutte dā€™Or, I have one that came from Easton MD that Iā€™ve been trying to figure out which it is of the 2. It has had trouble most winters, but looks like it should ripen some more fruit this year. The eye was tighter and the flavor different than Brunswick but the leaves are the same.
