or $50 Matt, that is how much he owes me!

Thanks for sharing. It’s good to see that James is working hard on taking care of the figs trees! I’m looking forward to receiving mine whenever that happens.

If he’s being 100% truthful then most likely he does not know about the phone calls being made to him that if he does not respond to he can get in to some very serious legal trouble. Several legal related actions are taking place. Either way it’s a huge mess. Yet he did cause the problem for himself for not setting any limits to how much a person can buy with paypal and for not enforcing the limit(s) he mentioned on his website. If I lived near him I would pay him a visit and even do free labor for the project if I had seen that it’s for real just to help him get the trees out there.

As I posted before, this guy is a trip. Now he’s a victim, because paypal
froze his account, and he can’t refund anyone’s money. What about sending
people the plants they bought two years ago.

Normal people use their hands to respond to emails and update websites but I guess he uses his foot to do that. So since he broke his toe there goes all the emails sent by paid customers who want answers regarding their orders and refunds! Using PP is a feeble excuse. As much as I hate PP becos of their lack of customers protection, I am pretty sure PP will unfreeze his accounts for refunds! There is the phone and he could call them but I guess maybe he uses his foot for speaking too, so since his toe was broken, he is incapable of using the phone as well!

Anne thanks for sharing that message. It’s the most insightful item I’ve seen on this situation.

The obvious solution for James would have been to hire some help 3-4 months ago and get started shipping. It’s too hot now. If he doesn’t ship this fall the trees will be too far gone to continue holding them. IMO this fall is his last chance. It may be too late now. It sounds like miss management to me not fraud.

A lot of good advice here for the man but, having done counseling in the past, it appears that he is in one of those ā€˜can’t see the forrest through the trees’ fog. So burdened that the obvious does not make sense to them. Or, he reasons that if he stops taking orders he has no income. If he hires people, he may not be able to pay them.
Tough situation.

When I started my own business I read that 90% fail. Once I had my own business I understood why. Luckily I prepared over a year in advance. I sold my business as it was too much work. Dealing with the man wanting his money, including the feds, the state, and the city. No wonder so many fail! Not to mention the landlord. Maintenance of the property was outrageous. Every other business in the strip mall cheated in one way or another to get by. Not my thing, I couldn’t break the law, Most people have no idea how many hands are in your pocket. It took three years to make a profit and I sold it, never again!

He hired help before his injury, yet to help with other things. I heard that he had poor business management from the very beginning.

Exactly especially if a person does business in California, they have way more business laws and way more required costs, people wonder why jobs go oversees. California does have needed laws that a lot of other states do not have, yet that adds to the hardships of doing business there, governments do make things way more complicated than they need to be though, which is so there are more government people with jobs. Government has become business and corporation like. They make things more complicated than actual corporations would if they did the same sort of things the government does.

Yes, except they don’t produce anything, and need tax dollars to be paid. At least here in Michigan we have a balanced budget. The MI government owes nothing, and we are thinking of making state Congress part time. Snyder our current Governor got rid of the state’s debt via cuts and good management… He has been excellent, but is done now as we have term limits. Our Governor before him couldn’t balance her own checkbook, let alone the state budget, she even caused a shutdown due to lack of funds. Snyder came into a mess, but fixed it quickly, he is from corporate America, not a politician. As far as I’m concerned career politicians are parasites.

Career politicians have way more to loose if they do not agree with certain people, that is the greatest problem with them. Then again any kind of politician can be a bad politician, just because someone is a business person does not mean they’d make a great politician, and not many business person options to choose. Not like there are many thriving business men and women out there… Also one person alone can not do much, it also depends on whom else the voters vote for.

I agree with you there, I just think business people are better at making effective teams. Career politicians seem to have lost sight as to why they are there. So I stand by my statement. The politicians make business decisions that have great impact. I would rather it be done by somebody whose been there, done that, has the t-shirt. When I see resumes where the only job a person has had is in government, that is a huge red flag for me. The founders wanted regular people in the house, and more career types in the Senate. Good idea, hasn’t worked that way. Term limits would end career House representatives, like for MI some have been there my whole life! They have no clue about the real world.
Also business people that are very rich often are just as bad, as they have guilt, or don’t want to be toppled in their industry, so would rather make it harder to live the American dream. I do think some are hypocrites. They just want a certain image portrayed. At least though the walked the walk, unlike career politicians.

On a related note even hipsters liked Steve Jobs. Who was a complete ass. I never got how he did it? Being the CEO of the largest corporation in the history of the world!
You don’t have to like your politician. The best surgeons I ever met are arrogant asses. When my wife had back surgery and us being in the medical field, we knew who was good, and who sucked. An orthopedic surgeon didn’t fix my wife’s back, a neurosurgeon did, who usually works on brains, the nerve tissue in the spinal column is a piece of cake for him. His success rate was near perfect on back surgeries. My wife was cured of her pain forever. He is an ass, and bitched at me because it was an old injury, and should have been done a long time ago. We did not know that? It just got worse, and prompted doing something. I don’t like him, I don’t have to like him. I just want the best, same with politicians.

Sadly the cost of a campaign these days costs over a million dollars which keeps a lot of people from being politicians who might be qualified to do a great job, if that is not bad enough people are way to loyal to one party, as if who is running is not important, both parties break the law, both parties let people down and try to act like the better party. Both have taken advantage of people, yet it has nothing to do with the party, each party has good honest people in it. Yet the best people often get shamed, they get fought, they get threatened, are plotted against. I do not care what party someone as long as they are a great choice like two Libertarians running together who each brought a state out of major debt when most states can never do that. I repeat two people rather than just one who is a good business man some of the time.

I would not mind some threads on new additions to one’s collection, or best of threads.
I have many new additions this year. Well not that many, but most are rare. I lost a few rare ones too, part of the hobby, I’ll try again.

Why do this guy still taking order? I tried a test order and his PP account still there. It is very misleading.

Fall 2017 Fig Trees for Sale

Advance order your fig trees now for Fall 2017 delivery!

You can now advance order fig trees for delivery around October 2017. Yes we ship internationally!

The main advantage of having your trees custom grown via advance ordering is that it gives you a relatively inexpensive way to build a collection of elite gourmet figs. The downside is the wait that comes with ordering a season in advance. So if you need particular fig varieties right now, it may be best to go to ebay. But if you’re willing to wait and have your trees custom grown for you, then we can provide that service, and we can save you a ton of money in the process.

Almost all varieties are priced at $9-$15. The trees will be around 6-12" tall when shipped, and will be sent via USPS Priority Mail or USPS Express International to minimize transit time. Here are the shipping rates:

Domestic Shipping (2 business days)

of trees Shipping

 1-3 $15
 4-6 $25
 7-16 $45
 17-25 $70
 25-50* $140

International Priority Shipping (6-10 business days)

of trees Shipping

International Express Shipping (3-5 business days)

of trees Shipping

 7-12 $170
 13-24 $340
 25-36 $510
 37-48* $680

*Maximum of 50 trees per Domestic order and 48 trees per International order. To buy more trees than that, please place multiple orders.

We can ship internationally and anywhere in the continental US (California included, but not Hawaii). International orders are not guaranteed: buyers must assume all risk for packages that may be damaged or lost during shipping. International buyers are responsible for getting an import permit from their local government and sending it to us so that we can get a Phytosanitary Certificate through our local Department of Agriculture office. We charge $75 for this option, and offer it below, at the top of the list of fig varieties. Also, if your country requires the trees to be shipped without soil (bare root), then it may be best to wait until the trees go dormant around November 2017.

Some western US states require bare-root shipping, so if you’re in one of those states (CA, AZ, OR, WA), don’t be surprised by it. The roots of those trees will be packed with moist material and the leaves sprayed with an antitranspirant. Folks in other states might have their trees partially bare-rooted, too, in order to fit them into their packaging. Many customers have requested delayed shipment to avoid shipping during summer heat or to avoid shipping actively growing bareroot plants, which is fine. There’s no extra charge for that service, so if you want to delay your shipment, just let us know.
